I don't think I've mentioned it here, but these characters are inspired by some Golden Age jungle characters created by Fox Feature Syndicate especially Jo-Jo Congo King. Kaza's name is derived from an alternate name one of Jo-Jo's stories was reprinted under, and Gwenna was the name of Jo_Jo's mate in his first adventure (it was changed later.)
I'm adding a bit more Fox connections with this origin. When the character of Archie became popular in the late 40's, Fox jumped on that bandwagon by introducing their own teenage comedy series called Junior. Like Archie, Junior had two love interests in the form of a brunette named Deena and a redhead named Gwenny. So the idea of tying that bit of comic history into the story seemed like fun interconnection.
So in essence, Gwenna is Veronica (or Betty, I always thought they were rather interchangeable) all grown up and moved off into much more exciting adventures with her jungle lord boyfriend:)
